Minet Botswana Holding’s Annual Golf Day is one of the most sought-after corporate tournaments on the local calendar and this year’s edition proved just how much the event has grown. Held at the Stanbic Golf Club in Gaborone on Friday, the third annual Minet Golf Day attracted close to 40 corporate partners and sponsors, marking the first time the event officially sold out. The tournament has now evolved into a powerful networking and brand-building platform for the insurance and risk advisory group. Speaking to The Monitor, Khumo Badisang, Business Units Manager for Marketing at Minet Botswana Group, said the event’s consistent growth reflects the strength of the company’s client and partner relationships. “This is the first year we’ve officially declared it a sold-out event” she said. “In the first year, we had 34 partners, then 42 last year, and this year just under 40. The demand has remained strong, which shows how our sponsors believe in what Minet stands for”. Badisang added that the annual golf day is not only about sport, but it is also about creating shared value through Minet’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. “Each Golf Day is tied to our CSR plan. This year, we are focusing on early education under the theme “growing young minds”. We want to directly support schools that have real needs, not just donate, but provide exactly what’s required”, she explained.

The group plans to support six schools across the northern and south-eastern regions of Botswana with projects ranging from sanitation improvements to provision of learning and computing materials. Minet Botswana Group board chair, Christopher Mokgware, said the Golf Day had become an important part of the group’s culture, uniting clients, staff, and partners around a common goal. “We pride ourselves on being proactive, innovative, and forward-thinking, always staying ahead of the curve. This event allows us to strengthen the relationships that make that possible”, he said.
